A correction release of Firefox 136.0.2 is available, which fixes several issues:
- An error that caused the options for deleting cookies, site data, and page cache contents to be enabled after upgrading to Firefox 136 has been fixed, if the options for clearing browsing history or site settings were enabled in the settings at shutdown.
- A problem was resolved where the master password prompt was displayed in situations where it was not required.
- Issues with the display of toggles in web forms on pages with a dark background have been addressed.
- A Windows-specific issue that resulted in high CPU load during screen lock or when closing a laptop lid has been resolved.
Additionally, the publication of the third version of the Mozilla Root Store Policy (MRSP) is noteworthy. Changes took effect on March 15 and aim to address issues related to certificate revocation delays by certification authorities. New requirements for timely certificate revocation have been added, the possibility to obtain a delay for revocation in certain situations has been removed, and tracking conditions for the lifecycle of closed keys have been expanded.
Moreover, a provision has been added to eliminate dual-purpose root certificates that have trust parameters set for both website and email certificate issuance (segregation of certificate hierarchies for TLS and S/MIME). Certification authorities already using such root certificates must submit a transition plan to separate hierarchies by April 15, 2026, and complete the migration by December 31, 2028.
