A corrective release of Firefox 89.0.2 is available, which resolves freezes occurring on the Linux platform when using the software rendering mode in the WebRender compositing system (gfx.webrender.software in about:config). Software rendering is applied on systems with older graphics cards or problematic graphic drivers, for which stability issues arise or rendering operations cannot be offloaded to the GPU (WebRender uses shaders to perform operations for rendering page elements).
