Almost three years after the release of the last update, the composite manager Compiz 0.9.14.2 has been published, using OpenGL for rendering graphics (windows are processed as textures using GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap) and providing a flexible plugin system for implementing effects and expanding functionality.
Among the most notable changes in the new version is the implementation of support for the properties _GTK_WORKAREAS_D{number} and _GNOME_WM_STRUT_AREA, which enhance the functionality when working with work areas in multi-monitor setups. These properties were previously added to the GTK library, window manager Mutter, and the composite manager Metacity.
Additionally, Compiz 0.9.14.2 has established support for building with new versions of GCC, resolved issues with the blur and opengl plugins on systems with OpenGL ES, discontinued path alterations for pkg-config, and added support for the Unity (Jumbo) build mode in CMake.
