The CADBase digital platform is designed for sharing 3D models, drawings, and other engineering data.
As is tradition, formed by news from 10.02.22 and 10.02.23, I am eager to share with you information about the latest update to the CADBase platform.
There are two significant changes that I would like to start with:
The second significant change is the introduction of file version control. Users can now set the active version of a file, changing its state either to the older or newer version. Considering the focus on binary formats (models, drawings, documents, etc.), this control operates somewhat more primitively than classic version control systems for text data (e.g., Git). Nevertheless, even in this form, it may be a useful feature for users.
Other innovations that also deserve mention include:
- The platform application has moved to the subdomain app.cadbase.rs, and the main domain now hosts a static website without WebAssembly. In the future, articles and training materials are planned to be available on the main site to simplify the process of getting acquainted with the platform.
- The macro for integrating FreeCAD with CADBase has been transformed into Workbench. This has simplified the process of delivering updates and reduced the burden on maintainers, as macros required mandatory code checks.
- Among the updates in the Workbench itself, the addition of localization for the Russian language is noteworthy.
- On the advice of a user from the comments on the previous news, 'Eurasia' has been add to the list of global regions (conditionally), whatever that may mean.
