The font is optimized for high character clarity at small and medium sizes (less than 12px) when displayed on computer screens. The original font texts are under a free license , allowing unlimited modification of the font, including for commercial purposes, printing, and use on websites.
The set includes more than 2,000 glyphs. There are 9 weight options (considering italics, a total of 18 styles). It supports a Cyrillic character set. The project is developed by Rasmus Andersson, one of the of Spotify (responsible for design and serving as art director), who has also worked at Dropbox and Facebook.
The set provides support for 31 OpenType extensions, including character auto-correction based on surrounding context (for example, two characters "->" are displayed as a single arrow), tnum mode (displaying numbers with fixed character width), as well as sups, numr, and dnom modes (different forms of superscripts and subscripts), frac mode (normalization of fractions such as 1/3), case mode (alignment of glyphs depending on the case of characters, for example, the sign "*" in "*A" and "*a" will be precisely centered), alternative numeral styles (for example, several variations of "4", zero with and without a strikethrough), and so on.
The font is available both as traditional font files divided by style (Bold Italic, Medium, etc.) and in the variable font format OpenType, where the weight, width, and other stylistic characteristics of the glyph can be varied freely. The font is adapted for web use and also in the woff2 format (for faster direct loading, CloudFlare CDN is used).
