A few days ago, Telegram developers released a fresh update that added a range of features focused on privacy and usability. One of these is the ability to hide your mobile number in specific groups and chats. Now, users can choose in which groups to display their number.
This allows users to conceal their information in personal chats while displaying it in work-related ones. Additionally, the iOS version has revamped privacy settings.
Another innovation is improved bots that now enable signing into websites using your Telegram account. When clicking on a link, the system now offers this option for seamless authorization, although it is not mandatory.
Finally, the option to add comments under posts has been introduced, providing feedback for channel owners. By clicking the comment button, a site will open with authorization already enabled. Here, users can leave comments, which the bot will forward to the channel owner. It’s noted that any user can now create similar bots to connect existing services to Telegram. Integration with various social, gaming services, dating apps, or e-commerce has also become much easier.
There’s also an update for group chats. Now, they can host up to 200,000 participants. Public channels can also be viewed without logging into the app, simply via the Internet. This is made possible through the 'Channel Preview' feature, which does not require authorization.
Developers have also worked on security. Now, Telegram apps will display a special badge for suspicious accounts, alerting users to potential fraud. Additionally, Telegram 5.7 for iOS introduced thumbnail viewing for PDF files. The client also allows file sharing of up to 1.5 GB.
Regarding Android, most of the dialog windows have been redesigned, and the design of the message search system and adding people to groups has been improved. Additionally, the app received a new theme switcher in the chat settings.
