OnePlus has unveiled the Nord 6 smartphone. This new device is aimed at mobile gamers and advanced users. It features a display with a high refresh rate, a robust battery, and a set of software tools based on artificial intelligence.
The OnePlus Nord 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 platform. The focus is on the device's gaming capabilities: OnePlus highlights support for 165 frames per second (FPS) in popular mobile games such as BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Free Fire MAX. To support competitive gaming, OnePlus has integrated a set of hardware which it calls 'Edge Tech'. This includes:
- a touch sampling rate of 3200 Hz for faster input registration;
- a super-precise 6-axis gyroscope, calibrated for high-sensitivity aiming (±4000°/s);
- a specially designed Touch Reflex chip and spatial sound amplifier for improved audiovisual feedback;
According to the manufacturer, the Nord 6 scored 2,503,854 points in the AnTuTu test, which the company notes is significantly higher than competing devices under similar testing conditions.
The smartphone features a 6.78-inch Sunburst HDR AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 × 1272 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. The brightness of the display in HDR mode is 1800 cd/m2 (peak 3600 cd/m2). The screen supports PWM dimming at 3840 Hz and a minimum brightness of 2 cd/m2 for low-light conditions. The display also utilizes Aqua Touch 2.0 technology, allowing use with wet fingers. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. The smartphone itself is also rated for water and dust resistance according to IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K standards. It meets military standards MIL-STD-810H for drop resistance and environmental impact.
The smartphone's wireless capabilities are provided by an exclusive Wi-Fi G2 chip, designed to maintain signal stability in high-network-load areas, as well as to support 5G-Advanced for higher peak data transfer speeds in networks.
A standout feature of the Nord 6 is its silicon-carbon (SiCarbon) battery with a capacity of 9000 mAh, which utilizes up to 15% silicon for maximum density without significantly increasing the device's thickness. OnePlus claims that the battery can provide over 2.5 days of moderate usage or approximately 11.1 hours of continuous gaming in BGMI. The smartphone supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, capable of fully charging the device in about 70 minutes. There is support for 27W reverse charging — the smartphone can be used as an external battery for other devices. The new model also features a bypass charging function, directing power directly to the motherboard during resource-intensive tasks (such as gaming or recording video in 4K) to manage heat dissipation and maintain stable performance.
The main camera set of the device includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA-600 sensor (size 1/1.95", optics f/1.8) with dual-axis optical image stabilization (OIS) and multi-focus sensors to enhance shooting quality in low-light conditions. The auxiliary 8MP ultra-wide camera is based on OmniVision OV08F sensor with f/2.2 optics. The main rear camera can record video in 4K at 60 frames per second. The front camera features a 32MP sensor with f/2.0 optics, capable of recording video in 4K at 30 frames per second.
The smartphone offers a range of AI features for photo editing, such as AI Portrait Glow, AI Eraser, AI Unblur, AI Perfect Shot, AI Reflection Remover, and AI Reframe. The 4K Motion Photo Clipper function allows high-quality frames to be extracted from three-second videos.
The device also includes AI Mind Space and Google Gemini features. The former is a unified knowledge base activated by a dedicated 'Plus' button or a gesture on the screen. With deep integration with Google Gemini, the AI can access these user-saved data to provide highly personalized suggestions, such as custom travel itineraries. There is also a real-time AI translator for calls, along with AI Writer and AI Scanner functions built into the operating system.
The OnePlus Nord 6 operates on OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. OnePlus promises four years of Android updates and six years of security updates. The smartphone will be available in Quick Silver, Fresh Mint, and Pitch Black colors. The device weighs 217 g and its dimensions are 162.5 × 77.5 × 8.5 mm.
The smartphone is launched in India, where it is offered in two configurations: with 8/256 GB of storage (around $420) and with 12/256 GB of storage (around $452). According to Android Authority, the new model is also expected to appear in several European markets.
