ONLYOFFICE DocumentServer 7.5.0 has been released, including a server for ONLYOFFICE online editors that enables collaborative work. The editors are designed for working with text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, and the project's source code is distributed under the AGPLv3 free license.
Simultaneously, ONLYOFFICE DesktopEditors 7.5 has been released, built on a shared codebase with the online editors. The desktop editors are applications for desktop use, written in JavaScript using web technologies. They combine client and server components for offline use on the user’s local system without referring to an external service. The Nextcloud Hub platform is also supported for collaboration on private resources.
ONLYOFFICE promises full compatibility with MS Office and OpenDocument formats, including support for DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT, PDF, HTML, EPUB, XPS, DjVu, XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, PPT, PPTX, ODP formats. There is an option to extend the editors' functionality through plugins, such as plugins for creating templates and adding videos from YouTube.
Key innovations:
· A PDF editor has been added with the ability to fill out PDF forms, add annotations, comments, and drawings.
· Additional scaling levels for the interface (225% and 275%) have been added, along with the ability to retain the selected zoom level between work sessions.
· A list of recently opened files has been added to the "File / Open Recent" menu of each editor.
· A warning has been added when attempting to close the application if multiple files are open.
· A menu for quick access to the most popular symbols has been added to the symbol insertion button.
· Support for images in SVG format.
· A setting has been added to hide the equation editing tool panel.
· The ability to create new office files from local templates in DOTX and OTT formats has been added.
· The capability to open password-protected files in the built-in viewer has been provided.
· Support for editing AutoShape border points has been added to the right panel.
· Keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + "." and Ctrl + "," have been added for inserting characters in superscript and subscript.
Vulnerabilities that allowed reading memory contents when converting DOC to DOCX, as well as inserting external images and accessing local resources when converting HTML to DOCX, have also been addressed.
