The website of JSC "MCST" has updated the section dedicated to the "Elbrus" operating system. This OS is based on Linux kernels of various versions with integrated information protection features.
The page presents:
- "Elbrus" OP – general-purpose software based on Linux kernels version 2.6.14, 2.6.33, and 3.14;
- "Elbrus" OS – a ported version of Debian 8.11 based on Linux kernel version 4.9;
- PDK "Elbrus" OS – the same OS but with development capabilities. It is claimed to be the most modern version of the OS. It is based on Linux kernel version 4.9 and is intended for download and installation on computers with domestically produced processors;
- "Elbrus" OS for x86 architecture – an OS based on Linux kernel versions 3.14 and 4.9 for processors with x86 instruction set. The version of the "Elbrus" OS packages for microprocessors with the Elbrus instruction set has been preserved.
It should be noted that the first two versions are provided only upon request as specialized software. The others can be freely downloaded.
For most users, the version of "Elbrus" OS for the x86 platform is of the greatest interest. The reason is simple – while Russian processors have become available for sale, they are still specialized and expensive solutions. It is also worth mentioning that on the same page, you can familiarize yourself with the set of packages included in the OS.
It is also important to mention that the third version of "Elbrus" OS based on kernel 3.14 for 32-bit and 64-bit platforms is currently available. The fourth version with kernel 4.9 is expected soon.
