NTC IT ROSA has released the ROSA Fresh 13.1 distribution, built on the ROSA 13 platform. The distribution is freely available and developed with community involvement. This release targets a wide range of users and will serve as the foundation for the corporate distribution ROSA Chrome 13. Images with KDE (4 GB) and GNOME (4 GB) desktops for the x86_64 architecture are available for download. The repository contains packages for the aarch64, e2kv4, i686, loongarch64, riscv64, and x86_64 architectures.
Among the changes in the new version:
- Drivers have been updated, and automatic correction of ACPI tables has been implemented, addressing issues with sound, touchpads, Wi-Fi, and screens encountered on certain laptop models like the Xiaomi MiBook 14 and Intel CPU-based MacBook.
- Support for WSD/eSCL technologies has been enhanced, enabling printers, scanners, and multifunction devices to operate without manual driver installation. The HPLIP interface for configuring HP printers and multifunction devices has been localized into Russian.
- Support for the Baikal-M platform has been improved.
- The logic of the 'Traffic Light' update utility has been updated, now not prompting to start updates if the laptop's battery charge is below 40%. Notifications have been added to inform users about the need to restart after updating certain system components. An option for automatic shutdown after updates has been implemented. The appropriate version of NVIDIA drivers can now be installed via a graphical interface.
- The desktop environment has been updated to KDE Plasma 6.4. The X11-based session continues to be used by default, while Wayland support is available as an option. KDE Plasma 5.27 can be installed from the repository. Mesa 25.1.8, Chromium 142, Thunderbird 140, and the MosTech.Office suite based on LibreOffice have been updated.
- The 'Packages' application manager (dnfdragora) now displays screenshots. Descriptions of popular packages have been translated into Russian.
- Ready-to-use modules for utilizing the ZFS file system are available in the repository.
- Support for external drives has transitioned to the ntfs3 driver and the exfat-progs utility.
- Installation on existing software RAID arrays has been streamlined, and automatic disk partitioning during installation has been improved. The ability to install via PXE on devices with limited RAM has been added, allowing for system image mounting over the network through CIFS or NFS.
- Within a single session, repeated password entries for private SSH keys are excluded (the password is now requested only once).
- Updated versions of PostgreSQL 18 (branches 15, 16, and 17 are also available in the repository), Node.js 24, Python 3.11 (3.12 can be installed from the repository), Kubernetes 1.34, Podman 5.5, Docker 27.5, cri-tools 1.34, Kea DHCP server 3.1, Vector logging system 0.50, Consul 1.20, syslog-ng 4.8.1, rsyslog 8.25, and audit 4.0.2.
- The possibility of changing the OS logo and building branded products based on the ROSA repository has been provided.
