The release of Thunderbird 145.0, developed by the community and based on Mozilla technologies, is now available. Thunderbird 145 is built on the Firefox 145 codebase and classified as an intermediate version, with updates issued until the next release. In the ESR branch, which has long-term support and receives updates over the course of a year, Thunderbird 140.5.0 has been released.
Key Changes in Thunderbird 145:
- Support for Microsoft Exchange has been added using the EWS (Exchange Web Services) API. Current support is limited to email—calendar and address book functionality will be added later. The built-in implementation of the Microsoft Exchange protocol is written in Rust and can operate without the need for third-party add-ons.
- Support for DoH (DNS over HTTPS) has been included.
- The option for manual email configuration is now available in the Account Hub interface, allowing management of multiple accounts across different mail services.
- The ability to manually configure connection settings when creating an account for EWS (Exchange Web Services) has been added.
- Support for Skype in the address book has been discontinued.
- The settings "default_supports_diskspace.{HOST}" and "default_offline_support_level.{HOST}" have been removed.
- The term "Spam" has replaced "Junk" for marking unwanted correspondence.
- Support for 32-bit Linux systems has been discontinued.
