The LDL multimedia library has been released, optimized for low-power systems.

The first release of the LDL (Little DirectMedia Layer) multimedia library is now available, designed to work on legacy hardware. This library provides a simple cross-platform API for 2D graphics, window management, and OS events, suitable for developing simple games and multimedia applications. In practice, the library is already being used to develop an alternative open game engine for the game Arcanum. The project code is written in C++ 98 and is distributed under the BSL 1.0 (Boost Software License).

The author pays great attention to optimizing the library for outdated platforms and creating a unified portable C++ API that can be used across various operating systems (an API for C programs is also provided). Currently, it supports operation on Linux (Debian 3+) and Windows (Windows 95+).

Support for GPU rendering using OpenGL 1.2 and OpenGL 3.0 is now available, as well as software rendering through CPU. The rendering method can change dynamically during the application's runtime. In Linux, XLib is supported, with ongoing development of support for the Wayland protocol. Functions for sound processing are provided. Various image formats can be loaded (bmp, png, tga, jpg).

In the future, support for rendering using Direct3D 9/10/11, streaming audio playback, and text rendering using the Freetype library will be added. Plans also include porting to Android, iOS, and macOS platforms.
