Purism has published the complete specifications for the Librem 5.
Main hardware and features:
- Processor: i.MX8M (4 cores, 1.5GHz), GPU supports OpenGL/ES 3.1, Vulkan, OpenCL 1.2;
- RAM: 3 GB;
- Internal storage: 32 GB eMMC;
- MicroSD slot (supports memory cards up to 2 TB);
- 5.7" IPS TFT display with a resolution of 720×1440;
- Removable battery 3500 mAh;
- Wi-Fi: 802.11abgn (2.4GHz + 5GHz);
- Bluetooth 4;
- Front camera: 8 megapixels, rear camera: 13 megapixels;
- USB 3.0 Type C port (data transfer, charging, video output);
- Combined 3.5mm jack (microphone, headphones);
- GPS (Teseo LIV3F GNSS), gyroscope, accelerometer.
Two options for cellular modems are possible:
- Gemalto PLS8 3G/4G on M.2 connector;
- Broadmobi BM818.
A distinctive feature of the phone is 3 physical switches:
Wi-Fi + Bluetooth, cellular connection, camera + microphone. If all three switches are in the 'off' position, GPS is disabled.
Device sales will be announced in Q3 2019.
