VK has released the MAX messenger version for the Linux platform. The builds are available in RPM packages (79 MB) and DEB (92 MB), as well as in the form of a standalone AppImage (114 MB) that can be run without installation on the system. The Linux version is based on the Electron platform, utilizing the Chromium browser engine.
Required dependencies include libgtk, libnotify, libnss, libxss, libxtst, xdg-utils, libatspi, libuuid, and libsecret. libappindicator is used to display indicators in the system tray. It supports operation in X11 and Wayland environments. The RPM package was built in the Alma Linux 8.x distribution. Registration of new users via the Linux app is not supported; an account must be created in the mobile application.
