SPI Report on Donations to Debian, X.Org, systemd, FFmpeg, Arch Linux, OpenWrt

Non-profit organization SPI (Software in the Public Interest), which manages the acceptance of donations and legal issues (trademarks, asset ownership, etc.) for projects such as projects, including Debian, Arch Linux, LibreOffice, X.Org, systemd, 0.A.D, PostgreSQL, FFmpeg, freedesktop.org, OpenWrt, OpenZFS, Jenkins, and OpenEmbedded, released the financial report for the year 2019.

The total amount of funds raised was 920 thousand dollars (in 2018, we raised 1.4 million). Some of the projects that received donations (amount in dollars):

Compared to 2018, donations to Arch Linux significantly decreased (from 294,268 to 17,426), systemd (from 190,004 to 130), and FFmpeg (from 105,606 to 10,435). This decline for Arch Linux and FFmpeg is likely related to substantial single donations received in 2018, as in 2017) the funds raised were comparable to 2019, and on the websites of Arch Linux and FFmpeg updates for the project continue to are accepting donations through SPI. The spike in donations for systemd in 2018 is likely associated with this project joining SPI and the subsequent publicity wave (on the website systemd the donation page is missing).
