A vulnerability (CVE-2023-41913) has been identified in strongSwan, a VPN package based on the IPSec protocol, used in Linux, Android, FreeBSD, and macOS, which can be exploited for remote code execution by an attacker. The vulnerability arises from an error in the charon-tkm process implementing the key exchange protocol (IKE) based on TKMv2 (Trusted Key Manager), leading to a buffer overflow when processing specially crafted DH (Diffie–Hellman) scheme values. […]
An intermediate release of the OpenZFS 2.2.1 project, which develops the ZFS file system implementation for Linux and FreeBSD, is now available. This release is notable for adding support for Linux kernel 6.6 and attempting to address a problem that leads to data corruption (resetting part of the blocks) in files after they are copied. It was initially thought that the issue only occurs in the 2.2.x branch and is caused by a bug in OpenZFS 2.2.0 […]

After three months of development, the release of the distributed source code management system Git 2.43 has been published. Git is one of the most popular, reliable, and high-performance version control systems, offering flexible tools for nonlinear development based on branching and merging. To ensure the integrity of the history and resilience against 'backward' changes, implicit hashing of the entire previous history is used in each commit, […]
