Microsoft has blocked the account associated with VeraCrypt, a popular and long-standing encryption software, raising doubts about future updates for this software on Windows, said VeraCrypt developer Mounir Idrassi. A security researcher has released the code for a zero-day exploit for Windows, dubbed BlueHammer. This radical step was taken due to a conflict with the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) regarding the handling of the information he provided. The researcher, using the pseudonym Chaotic Eclipse, posted the exploit code on GitHub on April 3. He expressed frustration with MSRC's management's response to his submission.
