The yet-to-be-officially-released Intel Core i9-9900T processor has been tested several times recently in the popular benchmark Geekbench 4, according to Tom’s Hardware, allowing us to evaluate the performance of this new chip.
To begin with, let's remind you that Intel processors with a 'T' suffix in their name are characterized by reduced power consumption. For example, while the Core i9-9900K has a TDP of 95 W and the standard Core i9-9900 has 65 W, the Core i9-9900T chip will fit within just 35 W.
These processors differ in their clock speeds. With the energy-efficient Core i9-9900T, you still get eight cores, sixteen threads, 16 MB of L3 cache, and built-in Intel UHD 630 graphics. However, the base clock speed, which defines the TDP, will be only 2.1 GHz, while in Turbo mode, the maximum frequency can reach 4.4 GHz.
As expected, due to the lower clock speeds, the Core i9-9900T scored fewer points in Geekbench 4 compared to the Core i9-9900. The single-core performance difference was just over 6%, while the multi-core performance differs by almost 10%. Clearly, the gap with the more powerful Core i9-9900K will be even greater.
The recommended price of the Core i9-9900T is $439. The standard Core i9-9900 is priced the same.
