The first public release of the JingOS operating system, designed for mobile devices, has taken place, specifically JingPad C1, with mass production planned to begin in July 2021.
The system is a fork of Ubuntu, equipped with many qualities of Apple's iPad OS and the KDE fork. A proprietary set of stock applications is also being developed, including a calendar, app store, PIM, voice notes, and more.
The system has been tested on the Huawei Matebook 14 Touch Edition and Surface Pro 6; it is expected that any device with an x86_64 architecture that supports Ubuntu should support JingOS.
The initial publication of the source code in the public repository is planned within six months.
