According to the StatCounter ranking, which monitors global statistics on web browser usage, the share of Linux distributions among desktop systems has surpassed 4.45% for the first time. The statistics were collected based on a counter placed on 1.5 million websites. The 4% mark was crossed by desktop Linux distributions in March. In June, the share of Linux was 4.05%.
At the same time, the popularity of the ChromeOS operating system continues to decline, with its share dropping from 4% to 1.41% over the past 12 months. If we consider all operating systems, including mobile, the leader is the Android platform, which uses the Linux kernel, with a share of 45.19% (up from 43.74% six months ago), followed by Windows at 25.98% (down from 27.39%), iOS at 18.35% (up from 17.82%), macOS at 5.37% (down from 5.87%), and Linux at 1.61% (up from 1.54%).

- In the game delivery service Steam, the share of Linux users is 2.08% (up from 1.76% six months ago, and 1.44% a year ago). Leading distributions are Ubuntu 22.04 at 0.21%, Arch Linux at 0.17% (used as the basis for Steam OS), Linux Mint 21.3 at 0.11%, Manjaro Linux at 0.06%, and Debian GNU/Linux 12 at 0.05%.
