The OpenELA association of creators of Red Hat Enterprise Linux clones, which includes Rocky Linux through CIQ, Oracle Linux, and SUSE, has provided an alternative repository with the RHEL source code. The source code is available for free, without registration or SMS. The repository is maintained and supported by members of the OpenELA association.
In the future, there are plans to create tools for building your own Enterprise Linux distribution, as well as to add the RHEL 7 source code.
The repository was created due to the closure of git.centos.org by IBM regarding the publication of Red Hat Enterprise Linux source codes, as well as the introduction of a ban on redistribution to Red Hat customers.
An NGO has been established to oversee the association, which will handle the legal and financial aspects of the OpenELA project, while the Technical Steering Committee will focus on making technical decisions, coordinating development, and providing support.
