Resource Phone Arena confirmed the release date for the final version of the Android 10 operating system. The publication inquired with Google's support and received a response. According to them, owners of Google Pixel smartphones will have access to the release build as early as September 3. Others will have to wait until manufacturers release their own builds.
It is noted that the update will be available for all 'Pixels', starting with the original Pixel and Pixel XL (released in 2016) up to the latest Pixel 3, Pixel 3XL, Pixel 3a, and 3a XL. Thus, the company will 'refresh' all available smartphones and give users of the first models a nice bonus. They were promised 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security patches for Android.
Among the new features, we highlight the system-wide dark theme, improved gesture controls, a built-in desktop mode, background updates for Android, 'smart' replies in the notification shade, focus mode, and overall security enhancements.
For participants in the Android 10 beta testing, a small patch will be released that will change the system's status to stable. The overall size of the update for users of Android 9.1 will be approximately 2.5 GB.
Recall that earlier Google announced a change in the naming system for Android. Now there will be no names of candies and desserts, only numbers. This approach was justified by the need to clearly show the continuity of the OS and simplify the understanding of the numbering system for users.
