The results of the annual Debian Project Leader elections have been revealed. A total of 354 developers participated in the voting, representing 34% of all eligible voters (last year’s turnout was 44%, while the year before it was 33%). This year, there were three candidates for the leader position. Jonathan Carter emerged victorious, being re-elected for a third term.
Since 2016, Jonathan has been maintaining over 60 packages in Debian, contributing to quality improvements for Live images in the debian-live team, and is one of the developers of AIMS Desktop, a Debian build used in several South African scientific and educational institutions.
Felix Lechner and Hideki Yamane also ran for the leader position. Felix is developing the package check system Lintian, is part of the teams for Golang, Perl, and VOIP, and maintains 16 packages. Hideki has been a Debian developer since 2010, worked on translations into Japanese, and maintained around 200 packages, mainly related to fonts and the Ruby language.
