A group of Haiku OS developers has prepared and published the first public port of the Mozilla Firefox browser. Joint efforts in the port preparation process included changes to the base system as well as to other used ports, such as the Wayland layer for Haiku developed by x512.
Due to Mozilla's lack of response, which prohibits the use of its trademarks when building from source code that differs from the original, a decision was made to deliver the browser under the alternative name IceWeasel, previously chosen by the GNU project for its Firefox fork.
The reason for releasing the finished port to the public was to ensure media playback, sound output, and support for JIT. It is worth noting that the port is still experimental and has known issues, such as graphical artifacts caused by the imperfections of the Wayland layer, and it does not support certain features like WebRTC.
