Postgres Professional, a Russian DBMS developer, has released an updated version of Postgres Pro Enterprise Manager (PPEM) 1.5 — a graphical platform for comprehensive management and monitoring of Postgres Pro DBMS.
PPEM is designed on the principle of a 'single window' and allows users to manage all database instances from a single console via a browser, significantly simplifying the daily tasks of database administrators.
The solution covers a full range of tasks from four main categories: maintenance and configuration, performance diagnostics, scheduled task monitoring, backup and recovery. The built-in monitoring capability allows tracking key performance metrics and creating custom graphs that visualize the load indicators on the database of the client's information system, among other capabilities.
The following key changes are presented in Postgres Pro Enterprise Manager version 1.5:
- pages for displaying the progress of scheduled tasks based on pg_stat_progress_* views have been added;
- the ability to manage job schedules has been expanded;
- the ability to manage backup storage settings at the catalog and instance levels has been added;
- point-in-time recovery (PITR) capability has been added;
- the ability to pin backups has been added;
- a page with a lock tree has been added;
- a configuration preset for OLTP load has been added;
- support for new versions of the RED OS and Ubuntu platforms has been added.
Numerous improvements have also been made to the API and web application interface, bugs have been fixed and much more.
PPEM is available to users of any DBMS from the Postgres Pro line. The platform can also be used for hybrid landscapes: Postgres Pro + open-source DBMS PostgreSQL.
