At the regular semi-annual meeting with investors of the Loongson Industrial Ecosystem Conference, President and Chairman Hu Weiwu revealed plans for 2025. They include the release of three lines of processors targeting different segments – mobile, desktop, and server. In the first half of the year, work on ramping up production capacities will be completed, and in the second half, the processors will enter mass production.
The processors will be manufactured using 7-nanometer technology. The desktop line of processors will include the 3B6600 with eight LA864 cores operating at a frequency of 3 GHz with integrated LG200 graphics, along with a more powerful model, the 3B7000, running at 3.5 GHz. According to Hu Weiwu, the single-thread performance will be comparable to Intel’s 12th and 13th generation processors.
The company intends to release at least one desktop and one server chip each year and aims to switch to a production cycle known as "tick-tock". The production of GPU solutions and SoCs/MCUs will also continue.
It is worth noting that Loongson processors are one of the architectures supported in Linux – LoongArch. One of the unofficial releases (“ports”) of the Debian distribution is being developed for this architecture. Among domestic distributions, support for Loongson was planned to be implemented in AltLinux — in particular, the advisor to the General Director of "Basil SPo" Alexey Novodvorsky stated mentioned: "In the first quarter of 2024, we plan to release the OS distribution 'Alt' p11, including distributions for the LoongArch platform"
