The Innosilicon G32 Grin ASIC miner has been introduced: it is 10 times better than using graphics cards.

In mid-January, the cryptocurrency Grin, based on the MimbleWimble protocol, was introduced, with the intention of making mining more favorable, than on graphics cards rather than on custom ASICs. Grin mining utilizes the Cuckoo Cycle (Cuckatoo) hashing algorithms, which are intended for continuous development, again aimed at making Grin mining less profitable on ASICs. However, ASIC developers disagree with this perspective. The Chinese company Innosilicon, for instance, has prepared a range of hardware solutions for mining Grin using ASICs at home and in farms.

The primary consumer of Grin mining solutions is seen by the developer as the home user. For this, Innosilicon has created an ASIC miner in a PCIe adapter form factor, resembling a graphics card in size and shape. The price for pre-order, which must be made by the end of April, will be $800. Deliveries will begin in August. Purchasing the miner after deliveries start will cost $1200. This and other miners support the Cuckatoo31+ and Cuckatoo32+ hashing algorithms (as well as Cuckatoo29/30). By April 2020, all algorithms except Cuckatoo32+ will be phased out, but Innosilicon’s equipment will remain relevant, as it already supports the Cuckatoo32+ algorithm. By the way, the warranty for equipment with a pre-order has been extended from 6 to 9 months, which will be a nice addition to the direct discounts.

The declared performance of the PCIe adapter form factor miner will be from 21.5 GPS for CC31+ to 4.5 GPS for CC32+ at a consumption level of about 140 W, which, according to the developer, is 10 times more efficient compared to a "good" GPU. Each of these cards can operate independently or in a cascade connection with other adapters. The adapter can be connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

For mini-farms and farms, Innosilicon will offer miners for Grin mining in separate enclosures: models G32-500 (520 W, 100 GPS for CC31+ and 20 GPS for CC32+) and G32-1800 (1800 W, 328 GPS for CC31+ and 65.6 GPS for CC32+). The price for the 520 W miner will be $2888 for pre-order and $4500 after deliveries begin. The price for the 1800 W miner will be $9388 for pre-order and $15,000 if purchased later.
