Debian Developers a set of services , which will be hosted on the website and aim to simplify communication and content sharing among project participants. The ultimate goal is to create a safe space for developers and project supporters, where they can share information about ongoing work, showcase results, interact with colleagues, and share knowledge.
Currently, the following services are in beta mode:
- (powered by ) — a decentralized microblogging platform similar to Mastodon, Gnu Social, and Statusnet;
- (powered by ) — a photo-sharing service that can be used for posting photo reports;
- (powered by ) — a decentralized platform for hosting and broadcasting videos, which can be used for publishing video tutorials, interviews, podcasts, and recordings of talks from conferences and developer meetings. For example, all videos from Debconf conferences will be uploaded to Peertube;
- (powered by ) — a system for conducting video conferences over the web;
- (powered by ) — a blogging platform for developers;
- (powered by ) — a decentralized system for blogging and note-taking. Experiments are also being conducted with deploying a decentralized blogging system based on the ;
- In the distant future, there is also the possibility of creating a messaging service based on , a communication platform based on
and a service for sharing audio files based on .
Most services are decentralized and support integration into a federated network for interaction with other servers. For instance, using an account on Pleroma allows you to track new videos on Peertube or images on Pixelfed, as well as leave comments in decentralized networks
Fediverse submit a request on salsa.debian.org (an account on salsa.debian.org is required). In the future, authentication is planned to be organized directly through salsa.debian.org using the OAuth protocol.
