The Fedora project’s governing board has issued a statement regarding Richard Stallman's return to the board of the Free Software Foundation. The statement emphasizes that Fedora advocates creating an inclusive, open, and friendly community that does not tolerate harassment, bullying, or any other forms of abuse in communication. It further states that the Fedora governing board is shocked that the Free Software Foundation has allowed Stallman to return considering his past remarks (note: Stallman and his supporters dismiss the arguments of opponents, viewing the attacks as unwarranted harassment and pointing out that manipulative tactics involve out-of-context, distorted, and misinterpreted statements or unfounded attributions of opinions that Stallman does not share).
As long as Stallman is involved in the Free Software Foundation, the Fedora project has ceased all interactions with the organization, including financial support and participation in events organized by the Free Software Foundation or where Stallman speaks as a presenter. Similar actions will also be taken against all organizations where Stallman holds a leadership position (Stallman remains the head of the GNU project). Previously, a similar position was voiced by Red Hat, which oversees the Fedora Linux developer community.
Additionally, it can be noted that the petition in support of Stallman has gathered 5,215 signatures, while the letter against Stallman has 3,013 signatories.
