The FreeBSD project has adopted a new code of conduct for developers

The FreeBSD Project reported on the adoption of a new Code of Conduct (Code of Conduct), based on the code of the LLVM project.

In 2018, a survey was conducted among developers regarding the code of conduct. At that time, 94% of developers considered maintaining a respectful manner of communication important, 89% believed that FreeBSD should welcome participation from people of all worldviews (2% against), and 74% deemed it necessary to remove toxic individuals from the community, regardless of their contributions to the project (9% against).

In 2020, a second survey was conducted, where developers were presented with three codes:

• the current one, which was based on the recommendations of the Geek Feminism project.
• derived from the code LLVM
• derived from GoLang.

4% supported maintaining the current code, 33% voted for the option from the language developers' community, Go, 63% favored the option from the project. LLVM.

The adopted code welcomes:

• friendliness and tolerance;
• kindness;
• thoughtfulness;
• respectful treatment;
• carefulness in expressions;
• a willingness to understand the details of what is happening.
