a new database of supported hardware for BSD systems, prepared by the creators of the database. Among the most sought-after features of the database are driver searches for devices, functionality tests, anonymization of collected system logs, and statistical reports. The database has diverse use cases — you can simply output a list of all devices, send logs to developers for bug fixing, or save a "snapshot" of the current state of your computer for future reference in case of malfunctions, among other things.
As with Linux systems, the database is updated using the program (version 1.6-BETA released specifically for BSD). This program allows abstraction from the differences between BSD systems and outputs a list of devices in a unified format. It is worth noting that, unlike Linux, BSD systems do not have a single way to output lists of PCI/USB and other devices. In FreeBSD, pciconf/usbconfig is used for this purpose, while OpenBSD uses pcidump/usbdevs, and NetBSD uses pcictl/usbctl.
Among the tested supported systems are: FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, MidnightBSD, DragonFly, GhostBSD, NomadBSD, FuryBSD, TrueOS, PC-BSD, FreeNAS, pfSense, HardenedBSD, FuguIta, OS108 (if your system is not on the list, please let us know). Everyone is invited to participate in BETA testing and contribute to the database.
instructions for installing the database client and creating hardware probes.
