Chinese drone manufacturer DJI has made significant changes to its product prices in response to tariffs on Chinese goods imposed by the Trump administration.
The price increase of DJI products was first reported by DroneDJ. This may be the first documented instance of a Chinese gadget manufacturer or a brand that predominantly produces goods in China adding a tariff imposed by the Trump administration to the purchase price for American consumers.
The prices of DJI Mavic 2 series products, in particular, have increased by 13%, which is slightly less than the 15% tariff announced by Trump on Twitter at the end of last month, and which took effect this past weekend.
The Mavic 2 Pro drone now costs $1729 instead of $1499 as before. The price of the DJI Mavic Air model is now $919 (previously $799). DroneDJ noted that most models of the Mavic 2 series became available for purchase in the USA again only this past weekend, after being unavailable for several weeks.
In Canada, the price of the Mavic 2 Pro remains $1499. For EU countries like France and Germany, the prices of DJI devices in euros also stay within the company's previous pricing policy.
For specialized products of the company, such as the professional-level Inspire drone and the industrial-grade Matrice 600 Pro, the price in the USA is now higher than in Canada by nearly 17% and 14%, respectively.
