Renowned German enthusiast Roman "Der8auer" Hartung had the opportunity to visit the ASUS office and get acquainted with one of the first GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards from the ROG STRIX series. Roman didn't waste any time and immediately began disassembling the new product.
The video published by Der8auer starts at the moment when the card is already completely disassembled.
The enthusiast didn't specify which exact model of the GeForce RTX 3080 ROG STRIX is featured — whether it's factory overclocked, not overclocked, or the Advanced version. However, as noted by VideoCardz, all versions of the GeForce RTX 3080 ROG STRIX use the same very large printed circuit board. Currently, the STRIX OC version is the most powerful among all GeForce RTX 3080 variants available on the market. The claimed frequency of its GA102-300 graphics processor is 1935 MHz.
In the video, the enthusiast mentioned that the cooling system of the new graphics card is very heavy, featuring two large heatsinks and seven heat pipes assembled into a copper base. For reliability, the card is equipped with a very thick backplate, as well as a rigid frame. The PCB itself uses an impressive 22-phase power system for the graphics processor and memory, and is equipped with a dual BIOS system, allowing for a choice between a quiet or maximum performance mode. Among other features, the enthusiast highlighted the presence of PCON1 and PCON2 contacts for direct voltage control, as well as two connectors for attaching additional fans.
According to ASUS product manager Juan Jose Guerrero, the GeForce RTX 3080 ROG STRIX graphics cards will be available for sale starting September 28, meaning from the beginning of next week.
