About the platform
The CADBase platform provides a system for publishing, storing, and versioning engineering data, such as 3D models and drawings.
The name of the platform is formed by combining two words — CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and Base (Database), conditionally translating to "Database for Computer-Aided Design Systems."
The platform's website features a viewer for STL files, with plans to add support for STEP file format.
Within the platform, a 'component' is a key object and includes the following information:
- parameters (attributes) and files of the component;
- modifications of the component with files and parameters;
- sets of files for grouping files within the component modification;
- standards related to the component (published on the platform);
- information about the manufacturer or suppliers of the component;
- catalogs related to the component;
- keywords (tags).
Changes
Website Updates
Since the last news, the platform's website has received the following changes:
- a search bar for components has been added (at the top of the page);
- messages about changes have been added to the file information (displayed upon file uploads);
- Markdown support for object descriptions and parameter names has been added;
- pagination has been implemented for the lists on the component page: modifications, parameters, standards, and component suppliers;
- import of modification names and their parameters from a spreadsheet has been enabled (via copy-paste).
Integration Updates
Of course, along with the platform update, new versions of the workbench have been released CADBase Library (GitHub) for FreeCAD (2.0.0) and the add-on CADBase Library (Blender Extensions) for Blender 3D (0.2.0). The new versions feature the following innovations:
- preview of changes before submission;
- support for messages for brief information about changes;
- settings to disable hash calculation checks and force updates;
- locally missing files are removed from the platform's storage (cloud).
API Updates
In the component request (https://docs.cadbase.rs/#query-component) related objects have been added. The data sorting and pagination capabilities have been expanded. For example, for components and component modifications, in addition to pagination, sorting by fields such as: name, actualStatusId, createdAt, and updatedAt can be defined.
This allows for obtaining complete information about the component in a single request. The capabilities of the GraphQL API enable querying only the necessary fields, excluding unnecessary data transmission over the network.
