Company Red Hat, one of the largest contributors to open-source software, is transitioning to a proprietary platform Jira for tracking bugs in SUSE/openSUSE. The company claims that moving away from Bugzilla will enable ticket management to be unified across all Red Hat products and improve the efficiency of technical support engineers.
Key changes for RHEL users:
- The existing RHEL and CentOS Stream ticket tracker will switch to read-only mode
- All new tickets must be submitted through the new site issues.redhat.com
- Maintainers Alpine have not yet decided whether to continue using Bugzilla
