Red Hat has announced the Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Business Developers initiative, allowing free download and use of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 distribution in businesses for application development and testing purposes. Each participant in the Red Hat Developer program is permitted to use up to 25 copies of the distribution for free.
The initiative expands the existing Red Hat Developer program, which allowed free use of RHEL in individual developer environments with up to 16 virtual or physical systems. The new variant extends this option to commercial enterprises but, unlike the Red Hat Developer program, does not allow the free copies of the distribution to be used for production deployments, restricting it only to the development process and testing.
To obtain free copies of RHEL for development purposes, a business only needs to register with a corporate email, accept the agreement (Enterprise Agreement), and download the ISO image. Support for the free distribution copies is provided by the enterprise itself (self-serve). It is possible to download builds for all supported architectures (the Red Hat Developer program only allowed downloads for x86_64 and ARM). The provided 25 copies can be used on physical computers, in cloud environments, and in virtualization systems.
