Today is a big news day for the CentOS project.
Firstly, as promised, the release of CentOS Linux 8, build 8.0.1905, has occurred.

This release is a rebuild of the RHEL 8.0 release published in May this year.
Among the significant changes is the introduction of AppStreams — an enterprise version of the concept of Fedora Modularity.
The essence of the approach is to ensure the simultaneous availability of different versions of the same package. Unlike Software Collections, simultaneous installation of different versions of the same stack is not supported.
For example, modular packages for PostgreSQL9 and PostgreSQL10 are available in the repositories, but you can install only one of them.
Secondly, along with the regular release, the CentOS project also announced the launch of a new project — CentOS Stream.
CentOS Stream — this is a rolling branch of the CentOS distribution that will contain changes planned for the next RHEL release, published up to in this release.
Package updates within CentOS Stream may be released several times a day.
The goal of the project is to allow the community, partners, and everyone interested to participate in the development of RHEL and CentOS at the earliest stage.

Currently, CentOS Stream 8 is almost identical to the CentOS Linux 8 branch. The difference will become apparent later when changes from the internal branches of RHEL 8.1, 8.2, and beyond start flowing into CentOS Stream.
