A new distribution for application development has been released Clear Linux Developer Edition by Intel.
Key Features:
- Complete isolation of applications using containers (KVM).
- Applications are supplied in the form of Flatpak packages, which in turn can be bundled into bundles. It also offers an application catalog with ready-made bundles for deploying a working environment.
- Distribution update modes: the ability to download necessary patches in a running system, as well as the option to upload a new image to a Btrfs snapshot and replace the active snapshot with the new one.
- Packages and the system have a single version number. Unlike standard distributions, where each package has its own version number, here everything has a single version number, and updating a separate component of the system updates the entire distribution.
- Gnome is offered as the main DE, but there is an option to switch to KDE, LXQt, Xfce, Awesome, or i3.
