CodeWeavers has released version 21.0 of the CrossOver package, based on Wine code and intended for running programs and games designed for the Windows platform. CodeWeavers is one of the key participants in the Wine project, sponsoring its development and contributing all innovations realized for their commercial products back to the project. The source code of the open components for CrossOver 21.0 can be downloaded on this page.
In the new version:
- The codebase has been updated to the Wine 6.0 branch with porting of some changes from recent experimental Wine releases.
- The DXVK layer, implementing DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 9, 10, and 11 over the Vulkan API, has been updated to version 1.7.
- The Wine Mono component has been included.
- Support for dark theme has been added to the macOS builds, with the Vulkan WineD3D backend enabled by default.
- On the Linux platform, the functionality of MS Office 2016/365 has been improved, including support for multi-monitor configurations and resolution of issues with password entry and activation of the office suite.
- Launch times have been accelerated on the Chrome OS platform.
