Release of Manjaro Linux 20.0

Introduced the release of the distribution Manjaro Linux 20.0, built on Arch Linux and aimed at beginner users. The distribution is notable features a simplified and user-friendly installation process, automatic hardware detection, and installation of the necessary drivers. Manjaro is provided as live images with desktop environments KDE (2.9 GB), GNOME (2.6 GB), and Xfce (2.6 GB). In collaboration with the community additional boot images are being developed based on builds with Budgie, Cinnamon, Deepin, LXDE, LXQt, MATE, and i3.

To manage repositories in Manjaro, a proprietary tool called BoxIt is used, designed after Git. The repository follows a rolling update principle, but new versions undergo an additional stabilization phase. Besides its own repository, it supports the use of the AUR repository (Arch User Repository). The distribution comes with a graphical installer and a graphical interface for configuring the system.

The new version places great emphasis on improving usability in the Xfce 4.14 edition, which is considered flagship and comes with a new theme called 'Matcha'. Notable new features include the addition of a 'Display-Profiles' mechanism that allows saving one or more profiles with display settings. Profiles can be automatically activated upon connecting specific displays.

The KDE-based edition features a new release of the Plasma 5.18 desktop with a complete redesign. It includes a full set of Breath2-themes, including light and dark versions, an animated screensaver, profiles for Konsole, and skins for Yakuake. Instead of the traditional application menu, the Kickoff-Launcher has been replaced by the Plasma-Simplemenu package. KDE applications have been updated to the April releases.

The GNOME-based edition has been updated to  GNOME 3.36. The login, screen lock, and desktop theme switching interfaces have been improved (switching between Manjaro, Vanilla GNOME, Mate/GNOME2, Windows, macOS, and Unity/Ubuntu themes). A new application for managing GNOME Shell extensions has been added. A 'do not disturb' mode has been implemented, temporarily disabling notifications. Zsh is now suggested as the default shell.

The Pamac package manager has been updated to version 9.4. It now includes support for self-contained packages in snap and flatpak formats by default, which can be installed using both the Pamac graphical interface and the command line. The Linux kernel has been updated to version 5.6. The Architect console build allows installation on ZFS partitions.
