release of the Live distribution (Network Security Toolkit) 32-11992, designed for security analysis of networks and monitoring their operation. The size of the bootable (x86_64) is 4.1 GB. A special repository is provided for Fedora Linux users, allowing the installation of all developments created within the NST project onto an already installed system. The distribution is based on Fedora 30 and allows the installation of additional packages from external repositories compatible with Fedora Linux.
The distribution includes a large collection related to network security (for example: Wireshark, NTop, Nessus, Snort, NMap, Kismet, TcpTrack, Etherape, nsttracroute, Ettercap, etc.). A special web interface has been prepared to manage the security checking process and automate the invocation of various utilities, which also integrates a web front-end for the Wireshark network analyzer. The graphical environment of the distribution is based on FluxBox.
In the new release:
- The package repository is synchronized with . It uses the Linux kernel 5.6. The supplied applications have been updated to the latest releases.
- The NST WUI web interface has added a page to display Wireshark tshark statistics, providing information about data exchange between two selected hosts. There is the ability to filter traffic by types and configure displayed fields. Results are presented in tabular form, which can then be analyzed in NST Network Tools widgets.
- The component for monitoring network interface bandwidth has been updated — NST Network Interface Bandwidth Monitor, which now supports access via WebSocket to enhance data delivery efficiency. A new widget for tracking peak loads has been added.
- A page for quick directory scanning using the utility has been added to the web interface . Integration of dirble with a word list generated in .
- Application (Multi-Traceroute) has been included in the main project .
- The application (FireWall KNock OPerator) has been integrated with the implementation of the SPA (Single Packet Authorization) scheme, allowing access through the firewall after sending a specially crafted packet.
- A new page for — a remote management application using Intel AMT Remote Management, has been added to the web interface;
- The application for tracking aircraft movements based on receiving signals from ADS-B Mode S transmitters has been integrated.
