Release of the Qt 6.10 framework

The Qt Company has released version 6.10 of the Qt framework, continuing its work on stabilizing and enhancing the functionality of the Qt 6 branch. Qt 6.10 provides support for platforms including Windows 10+, macOS 13+, Linux (Ubuntu 22.04/24.04, openSUSE 15.6, SUSE 15 SP6, RHEL 8.10/9.4, Debian 11.6), iOS 16+, Android 9+(API 23+), webOS, WebAssembly, INTEGRITY, VxWorks, FreeRTOS, and QNX. The source code for Qt components is available under LGPLv3 and GPLv2 licenses. Qt 6.10 has achieved intermediate release status, with public support being provided for 6 months (plus an additional 6 months for commercial users).

Key changes in Qt 6.10:

  • A new QML type, FlexboxLayout, has been added for adaptive layout of interface elements based on the Flexbox concept used in CSS, simplifying vertical alignment of items. The implementation supports concepts already utilized in Qt Quick, such as property binding to configure the behavior of individual elements within the layout.
  • The Qt Quick Scene Graph and Qt Quick Shapes modules now include features for working with animated vector graphics generated from images in SVG and Lottie formats. The Qt Lottie module has expanded support for Lottie files, allowing the use of the Lottie format in the VectorImage type for displaying Lottie files with scaling and hardware acceleration.
  • A new element, SearchField, has been included in the Qt Quick Controls set, providing a specialized input field for search functionality that displays relevant data in a pop-up window, filtered according to the text already entered in the field. The element supports various built-in Qt styles and facilitates a native look across all major platforms.
  • Classes have been introduced to simplify the integration of C++ data models with QML and Qt Quick:
    • QRangeModel is a wrapper around QAbstractItemModel for direct use in QML and Qt Quick interface elements with any enumerable types from C++, including std::vector, std::tuples, and std::array. std::vector values = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}; auto model = new QRangeModel(values); QListView *listView = new QListView; listView->setModel(model);
    • The QML type DelegateModel now includes the delegateModelAccess property, which can take the value DelegateModel.ReadWrite to allow writing to the model through context properties, model object, or required properties.
    • A new QML type, Synchronizer, has been added to synchronize the state of a control element with the value from the model. The Synchronizer ensures that multiple properties contain the same value — changing one of the synchronized properties automatically updates all the others.
    • A new QML type, TreeModel, has been added, which allows tree structures in C++ to be placed directly in the QML document using key-value pairs and syntax resembling JSON.
    • A new QML type, SortFilterProxyModel, has been introduced, allowing sorting and filtering of data directly from QML without needing C++ code.
  • In Qt Quick 3D, capabilities for creating lighting maps for high-quality rendering have been expanded, and support for reverse application of effects with particles has been added for simulating the effect of rain or snow hitting a model.
  • In Qt Graphs, a surface type with filling has been added, along with the ability to convert slices of 3D graphs into a 2D image for printing.
  • In Qt Widgets, the implementation of custom delegate objects has been simplified, drag and drop operations have been improved, and the ability to customize layout sizes has been added.
  • In Qt Core, improvements have been made to work with locales, XML documents, and asynchronous operation sequences (continuation chains).
  • Enhanced tools for people with disabilities have been introduced. Built-in styles for high-contrast information display have been adapted to use system contrast settings, ensuring Qt applications visually align with the overall style. Qt controls and widgets have been improved for use with screen readers.
  • Support for mobile platforms Android 15 and 16 has been added, including functionality for devices using 16 KB memory pages.
  • The Qt Jenny 1.0 toolkit has been introduced to simplify the integration of Qt applications with the Android Java API and supports automatic generation of C++ API from annotated Java classes, allowing direct access from Qt code to Android services such as BatteryManager, PowerManager, and AudioManager.
  • New capabilities have been added for correct splash screen display on the Android platform.
  • Full support is provided for macOS 26 and iOS 26 platforms, utilizing the Liquid Glass visual language and with a modified rendering architecture.
  • The Qt WebView module on the Windows platform now supports embedding web content into Qt applications using the WebView2 engine based on Microsoft Edge instead of the Chromium-based WebEngine.
  • The Qt Multimedia module has added a backend for multimedia use. server PipeWire on the Linux platform.
  • The Boot2Qt stack has been updated, which can be used to create bootable mobile systems based on Qt and QML environments. The system environment in Boot2Qt has been upgraded to the Yocto 5.2 platform. Support for Ezurio Nitrogen boards has been added.
