The release was announced on March 20 LMDE 4 "Debbie". This release includes all the features Linux Mint 19.3.
LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) is a Linux Mint project aimed at ensuring the continuation of Linux Mint and assessing labor costs in case Ubuntu Linux ceases to exist. LMDE is also one of the build targets to ensure compatibility of Linux Mint software outside of Ubuntu.
The following new features and distinguishing characteristics have been noted:
- Automatic partitioning with LVM support and full disk encryption.
- Support for automatic installation of NVIDIA drivers.
- Support for NVMe, SecureBoot, and btrfs subvolumes.
- Home directory encryption.
- Improved and redesigned system installer.
- Automatic installation of microcode updates.
- Automatic resolution increase to 1024×768 in live sessions in VirtualBox.
- APT recommendations are enabled by default.
- Packages and the deb-multimedia repository have been removed.
- Using the package base Debian 10 Buster with the backports repository.
