Nine years after the last significant branch was formed, the MemTest86+ 6.00 memory testing program has been released. The program is not tied to any operating systems and can be launched directly from the BIOS/UEFI firmware or from a bootloader to conduct a thorough memory check. If problems are detected, the built-in fault mapping feature in MemTest86+ can be used within the Linux kernel to exclude problematic areas with the memmap option. The project code is distributed under the GPLv2 license.
