Updates for Ubuntu Touch firmware 24.04-1.1 and 20.04 OTA-11 have been released, based on the package bases of Ubuntu 24.04 and Ubuntu 20.04. The firmware is developed by the UBports project, which took over the development of the mobile platform Ubuntu Touch after Canonical distanced itself from it. The project is also working on an experimental desktop port of Unity 8, renamed Lomiri.
The update for Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.1 will be rolled out in the coming days for devices such as Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, F(x)tec Pro1 X, Fairphone 3/3+/4/5, Google Pixel 3a/3a XL, JingPad A1, Oneplus 5/5T/6/6T, OnePlus Nord N10 5G/N100, Sony Xperia X, Vollaphone X/22/X23, Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC/X3, Xiaomi Poco M2 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro/Pro Max/9S, Volla Phone Quintus, Volla Tablet, Lenovo Tab M10 HD 2nd Gen, Rabbit R1, and Xiaomi Redmi 9/9 Prime.
Among the changes in Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.1 and 20.04 OTA-11, the addition of VoLTE (Voice over LTE) support in firmware for Fairphone 4 and Volla Phone 22 is noted. The time for the first boot after updating from Ubuntu Touch 20.04 to Ubuntu Touch 24.04 has been reduced. Support for USB-C headsets has been implemented in 20.04 OTA-11. Other issues addressed include 100% CPU load while scanning media files, disappearing notifications, app crashes, Wi-Fi hotspot issues, and playback continuation after disconnection from Bluetooth headsets.
