The release of the lightweight window manager IceWM 2.4 is now available. IceWM provides complete control through keyboard shortcuts, the ability to use virtual desktops, taskbars, and application menus. The window manager is configurable through a fairly simple configuration file, and themes can be applied. Built-in applets for monitoring CPU, memory, and traffic are available. Several third-party GUIs for configuration, desktop implementations, and menu editors are being developed separately. The code is written in C++ and is distributed under the GPLv2 license.
The new release adds support for DockApps embedded in the panel, which were written for the WindowMaker window manager. Keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+mouse buttons can be used to manage embedded applications. A keyword search functionality in the information help is implemented (to invoke the search, you can use the Ctrl+F and F3 key combinations). In CenterTransientsOnOwner mode, the positioning of transient windows over their associated main window has been improved.
