The release of the lightweight window manager IceWM 3.3.0 is now available. IceWM offers full management through keyboard shortcuts, the ability to use virtual desktops, task panels, and application menus. The window manager is configured through a quite simple configuration file, and theming is supported. Window grouping in the form of tabs is available. Built-in applets for monitoring CPU, memory, and traffic are included. Several third-party GUIs for configuration, desktop implementations, and menu editors are under development. The code is written in C++ and is distributed under the GPLv2 license.
In the new version:
- Tab support has been implemented in the task grouping mechanism.
- A ToolTipIcon setting has been added to select the icon shown in tooltips.
- It is now possible to use the nanosvg library instead of librsvg (configure —disable-librsvg —enable-nanosvg).
- Focus switching between windows has been improved.
- The icesh utility has added the 'getClass' and 'setClass' commands, as well as providing the ability to explicitly select windows.
- Empty color specifications are now allowed.
