On June 18, the release of the HestiaCP control panel for VPS/VDS servers 1.00.0-190618 took place.
This panel is an improved fork of VestaCP and is developed exclusively for Debian-based distributions, specifically Debian 8, 9 and Ubuntu 16.04 18.04 LTS.
Like its parent project, it is named after the goddess of the hearth, Hestia, specifically the ancient Greek one, not the Roman.
The advantages of our project over VestaCP include the following:
- Numerous fixes and improvements in the bash backend code;
- Proper operation with multiple versions of PHP in php-fpm mode (in the future, we plan to implement the ability to select the PHP version directly from the web interface);
- Support for two-factor authentication for users of the panel;
- User rights segmentation: a separate user is created for each site in the control panel — the site owner.
The admin user only manages settings server and other users.
This ensures a high level of security compared to Vesta.
- The interface is adapted for mobile devices, made more compact for more efficient use of screen space. This change has positively impacted usability.
- A friendlier and more reasonable approach to error messages and patches.
- Support for Let’s Encrypt certificates when connecting to dovecot MDA in the mail subsystem;
The project needs experienced developers and testers.
We are open to collaboration for the benefit of OpenSource and constructive error reporting.
