Key Changes:

  • In the graphical interface, global operations have been moved from the dropdown menu to the sidebar located on the left, while tools for of virtual machines have been moved to separate tabs displayed above the area with the right panel.
  • The graphical interface has improved settings pages. Keyboard LED management has been enhanced. The IO-APIC setting has been removed from the ARM VM settings.
  • Support for hardware-accelerated video decoding has been added for Linux-based host systems.
  • For macOS host systems and ARM architecture, support for 3D acceleration using DXMT has been added.
  • The code for emulating NVMe controllers has been integrated into the open source code base.
  • The features for Nested Virtualization on Intel CPUs have been optimized.
  • Support for virtualization on host systems with Windows using ARM architecture processors has been added.
  • Support for running guest systems with Windows 11 for ARM architecture has been added. A new OS type 'Windows 11/Arm' has been implemented in the guest additions.
  • Compatibility with the state of virtual machines on ARM architecture saved in VirtualBox 7.1, as well as saved snapshots of ARM VMs, has been broken. Before switching to the VirtualBox 7.2 branch, it is necessary to finish these virtual machines.
  • The web service vboxwebsrv for management through the web interface has been included in the components for host systems based on ARM architecture.
  • In virtual machines Support for ACPI has been implemented for ARM architecture.
  • libIDL and IASL have been removed from the dependencies.
