A new version of the Tutanota email client has been released. Changes include a redesigned search feature and integration with Let’s Encrypt for custom domains, as well as a 100% Russian translation.
Tutanota uses end-to-end encryption, so searches can only be performed locally. For this, the client builds a full-text index. The index is stored locally in an encrypted format. The new redesigned search should significantly speed up the building and updating of the index, as well as accelerate the search itself. The new additional encryption prevents potential statistical analysis of the encrypted index.
Tutanota allows the use of custom domain not only as an email domain but also as a whitelabel. The new integration with Let’s Encrypt simplifies the process and makes it more secure: the key never leaves server Tutanota.
Thanks to the team of volunteers, Tutanota is now 100% translated into Russian, Ukrainian, Japanese, and Turkish.
